ABOUT   THIS   SITE

Hello, and welcome to Pyroteachnic! This site is dedicated to the idea of inspiring impassioned learning, which is my goal in life. Here, you will find my teaching portfolio (divided into sections that cover my personal skills, resume, teaching philosophy, training in the liberal arts, English subject specialty, and professional standards), along with my education blog, which I use to reflect on the world of teaching and learning. If you would like to contact me, please feel free.

WELCOME

Pyroteachnic is my electronic teaching portfolio and a place to host my blog on the world of teaching and learning. I am a wannateach currently working towards certification in secondary school English at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Someday, I hope to serve in a school where I will be able to make a small but vital difference in the lives of our nation's children, particularly children who have been disadvantaged by other social and economic factors. Like W. B. Yeats, I believe that education is about starting a fire in the hearts and minds of students, a passionate curiosity that will last long after the student has left my class. My goal in life is to create life-long seekers of knowledge who will be able to view the world and its variety of experiences with understanding and compassion. BLOG

My Pyroteachnic blog is a place for me to gather and reflect on the news that may impact the world of teaching. I sometimes will even include personal milestones or educational events in the life of my own little learner, my nephew Fraser. All my other "stuff" is relegated to my personal blog, which you can find on my eponymous homepage. *Please note, my blog archives through March 2008 were lost during a disastrous upgrade. If you are looking for a previous post, please feel free to contact me. Otherwise, click below to continue on to the Pyroteachnic blog . . .
